2 January 2022

John Gilhooly, Limerick-born director of London’s Wigmore Hall has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in Queen Elizabeth’s New Year’s honours list for his services to music. Ireland’s ambassador to Britain, Adrian O’Neill, congratulated Mr Gilhooly, who was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 2013 birthday honours, on the latest recognition of his work. “Irish Heritage is very proud and likewise honoured with this news on John Gilhooly, one of our prestigious patrons. John has supported us for many years along with his work with other charities and we are very fortunate to have him on board with us”, says Jim Kirby, Operations Director of Irish Heritage in London.
